Section 88.4 - Code of Iowa (1999) 88.4: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Edgewood HandiMart Food Store - Employees were exposed to hazards of lacerations and amputations during the use and operations of the Globe Model 2500 Slicer machine while working in the Blimpie section of the food store. All employees that used the slicer during part of their work were not trained in the safe use of slicer as stated in the Owners & Operators Instruction Manual for the slicer. This condition was noted on or about 816/02. " Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to train all employees that could possibly use this machine in accordance with the Owners & Operators Instruction Manual."ion
