Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer
did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical
harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
a.)  In that employees were potentially exposed to a serious laceration
hazard
since there were razor sharp flat edges projecting into the aisle from the
cut
ends of tubular steel which was stored next to the aisle in the tubular
steel
storage area.
Abatement Note:  Abatement certification is required for this item - use
the
CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose.
While ultimate responsibility for correcting the hazard rests with the
employer,
given his superior knowledge of the workplace, several feasible and
acceptable
methods, among others, to correct this hazard, are as follows:
1)Widen all pedestrian aisleways to at least 3 feet;
2)Mark the aisleways and don't let any sharp objects project into the
aisles;
3)Remove the sharp projections from the tubular steel before storing them.
