General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the recognized hazards associated with being lifted by an industrial fork lift truck without the benefit of a proper safety platform. Among other methods, two feasible and acceptable means of abatement to correct this hazard as follows: 1) With approval of the fork lift truck manufacturer, the purchase and use of a proper safety platform meeting specifications of the ANSI B56.1-1975 standard. 2) With the approval of the fork truck manufacturer, the in-house fabrication and use of a proper safety platform certified by a professional engineer and meeting specifications of the ANSI B56.1- 1975 standard. Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.ion
