General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Building 31, Main Shop, chemical storage cabinet; Steel doors were hinged to open upward which exposed employees to head injuries when removing chemicals from the storage cabinet. The door was not provided with a three point latch arrangement. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to build the chemical storage cabinet in accordance with National Fire Protection Association Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code ANSI/NFPA 30, Section 4-3.2.1 dated August 17, 1990.
