Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death of serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries: a) Tumbling Area - the overhead hoist used to move the dryer bin in and out of the dryer is missing a safety latch on the hook which is in violation of ANSI B30.16-1973 Section 16-1.1.2.4. Observed 03/30/94. Abatement Note: A feasible method of abatement would be to install a positive locking safety latch on the hook of the overhead hoist.
