employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to crushing hazards from steel rack units:
Warehouse - the racking/shelving which support food products approximately
2400 pounds were
placed on damaged racks/shelving, the employer did not ensure that steel
storage racks in use
at the facility were inspected and maintained in accordance with the
manufacturer's requirements
and with the American National Standards Institute guideline for use of
industrial and
commercial steel storage racks.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to follow the
recommendations of the Rack Manufacturers Instituted guidelines for the
use of industrial and
commercial steel storage racks.
