Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees to the hazard of crushing and/or struck-by hazards: Shop - In-Ground Lift bays 1, 2 and 3 of 6,000 pound capacity were not provided with locking devices which prevent the lift from falling from the elevated position. Employees were exposed to crushing hazards. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: Incorporate a load holding device as required by ANSI/ALO ALCTV:2006, American National Standard for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Construction, Testing and Validation, 9.2.11. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is completed.
