Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck: SAND PIT ON MILE CREEK ROAD: A FRONT END BUCKET LOADER WAS USED TO PULL A TEN WHEEL DUMP TRUCK USING A CHAIN. THE CHAIN WAS ATTACHED TO A HOOK BOLTED TO THE BUCKET OF THE LOADER. UNDER THE STRESS, THE HOOK CONNECTION BROKE. RECOMMENDED ABATEMENT METHOD: USE ONLY ATTACHMENT POINTS SUCH AS THE TOE PIN THAT ARE DESIGNED FOR TOWING.
