Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of severe burns or death: PLANT: ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMBER 6,1996, A CROSS BRACING OF A BUILDING TRUSS THAT WAS MADE OF METAL TUBING EXPLODED DURING ZINC GALVANIZING PROCESS. AN EMPLOYEE RECEIVED SEVERE BURNS FROM THE SPLASH OF HOT MOLTEN ZINC. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO ABATE THE HAZARD IS TO: 1.ESTABLISH AND IMPLEMENT METHODS AND PROCEDURES OF INSPECTING TUBULAR PRODUCTS PRIOR TO THE GALVANIZING PROCESS. 2.SELECT AND TRAIN EMPLOYEE(S) IN THE ESTABLISHED AND IMPLEMENTED INSPECTION METHODS AND PROCEDURES. 3.PROVIDE THE CRANE OPERATORS WITH BETTER BUILT BOOTHS/BARRIERS THAT ARE CAPABLE OF WITHSTANDING THE DESTRUCTIVE FORCE FROM THE EXPLOSION WITHOUT JEOPARDIZING THE CRANE OPERATOR'S SAFETY.
