Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to structural failure of rigging truss(es): HARTFORD CIVIC CENTER ARENA: THE EMPLOYER DID NOT DETERMINE THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS AND LIMITATIONS OF A RIGGING TRUSS PRIOR TO ATTACHING WEIGHTY OBJECTS TO IT AND ALLOWING PERSONNEL ON IT. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO CHECK THE MANUFACTURER'S TABULATED DATA OR CONSULT WITH A REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER TO DETERMINE ACCEPTABLE AND APPROVED RIGGING CONFIGURATIONS AND LIMITATIONS AND CORRECT ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES PRIOR TO ALLOWING A LOAD ON THE TRUSS.
