Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer
did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical
harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the homemade dies
breaking
and shrapnel from the dies striking employees:
(a)Building Number One, One Hundred Seventy Five (175) Ton Wysong Press
Brake - Employer was using homemade dies in the press brake with no
indication of the capacity of the dies.  The dies were not designed
by a Professional Engineer and no drawings or calculations were
available for review.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to have the homemade dies certified and/or designed for the
tonnage,
stroke and shut height requirements.
