Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely
to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to potential sulfur dioxide exposure from
heating liquid sulfur dioxide cylinders:
(a)Core Department - Employee(s) working at the core shooter
and core making operation were exposed to potential
sulfur dioxide leaks from the unregulated heating of two
liquid sulfur dioxide cylinders with drum heaters.  The
two cylinders were not monitored to ensure that the
increasing heat and/or pressure would not generate a leak
in the system, and employee(s) were not properly
instructed in how to regulate the temperature of the drum
heaters.
"AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD
TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO HEAT OF THE CYLINDERS THROUGH AN
APPROVED HEATING METHOD, SUCH AS A REGULATED WATER BATH OR BY USING
A HEAT EXCHANGER UNIT."

pamphlet P-1-1965, as adopted by 29 CFR 1910.101(b):  Cylinders
containing compressed gases should not be subjected to a
temperature of above 125 F, and compressed gases should be handled
only by experienced and properly instructed persons.:
(a)Core Department - Employee(s) working at the core shooter
and core making operation were exposed to potential
sulfur dioxide leaks from the unregulated heating of two
liquid sulfur dioxide cylinders with drum heaters.  The
two cylinders were not monitored to ensure that the
