Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of fire and/or explosive detonation from incompatible chemical storage in the Production area: (a) At the south end of the "West Line" appropriately 1/2 gallon of 68nitric acid was stored adjacent to 2 gallons of glacial acetic acid. The inadvertent mixing of these chemicals would result in explosive detonation and/or fire.
