Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a fall hazard of 16 feet while setting wooden roof trusses without providing adequate bracing. (a)Methodist Church Site, Wooden Roof Truss Erection - The top cord support for the trusses during erection was not in accordance with HIB-91 which requires a registered professional to design the bracing, thus exposing employees to a fall hazard or being struck by material from a truss collapse. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the requirements of HIB-91, have the truss bracing designed by a professional engineer and follow the engineering plan.eering
