Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an injury from an unintended dropping of the load by failure of the lifting device: (a)Molding Area, at the BMMS - Two (2) spreader bar, used in connection with a 1/2 ton electric Budget hoists, were homemade and showing signs of extreme wear in the throat area. These spreader bars did not have any rated capacity on them and were not approved in accordance with ANSI B30.16 - 1973. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO REPAIR AND RATE THE SPREADER BARS. VERIFICATION REQUIREDTION
