GENERAL 5A1 WORDING Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:Crane Hoist and load falling from trolley rail due to stop being insufficent to hold trolley and hoist on trolley rail. a. Machine Shop - 1 Ton Harrington Overhead Pendant Operated Crane was not provided trolley stop , sufficent to hold overhead crane on trolley rail. b. Machine Shop & Battery Room - Employees operate overhead pendant controlled crane. Frequent ( daily to Monthly) inspections were not performed on 1Ton Harrington Crane in that all funcitional operating mechanisms were not checked for maladjustments which would interfer with proper operation on daily basis. c. Machine Shop & Battery Room - 1 Ton Harrington Pendant Operated Crane had no load rating or marking on crane to identify load limits.
