Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of
1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries
from falling object (automotive engines).  Factors contributing
to the hazard are:
1.Unknown weight of the load.
2.Unknown capacity of the hoist.
3.Unknown capacity of the underslung trolley and support
frame.
"AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS ..."
1.Make a determination of the weight capacity of the
hoist, trolley and support system by an engineer or
other competent person.
2.Post the determined capacity of the hoist and support
system.
3.Train employees on the capacity and limitations of the
hoist and support system and to use the hoist only on
loads within the capacity of the hoist and support
system.
