Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with operating motor vehicles that had drivers seats that the backrests were broken and were being supported by boards and other items, tires were worn and one vehicle was missing a passenger seatbelt. These items can all be repaired by taking the vehicles to an automotive maintenance facility. Patrol Cars Vehicles were in need of repair for the following items: Vehicle #1 - Broken drivers seatback. Vehicle #200 - Broken drivers seatback. Vehicle #300 - Broken drivers and passenger seatback, and right front tire is worn badly. Vehicle #400 - Worn front right tire, steel belt is exposed. Vehicle #500 - Missing inside door handles, and the passenger seatbelt has been cut off.
