Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazards associated with loose bricks and mortar on the
building's facade
falling on them while entering or leaving the building:
Rear Building - Trash Storage
Employees entering and exiting through the door of the building and
working near the building
were exposed to serious head injury from falling debris.  Several loose
bricks and mortar were
observed to exist immediately above the roll-up door.
One method, among other methods, to correct the hazard is to remove all
loose masonary from
the buildings facade.
