polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe, exposing employees to the hazard of being
struck by flying
fragments:
a.Polyvinyl chloride PVC pipe was installed throughout the plant and used
to
transmit compressed air for plant use.
Feasible abatement methods to correct this condition may include but are
not limited to:
1.Enclosing the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) line in a conduit pipe of
sufficient
strength to provide protection from external damage and prevent employees
from
being struck by flying fragments.
2.Install a pipe system designed for compressed air as recommended by the
American National Standards Institute, American Society of Mechanical
Engineers
(ANSI/ASME B.31.8.1986, Sections 842.32, 842.43 and 849.52(b) Gas
Transmission and Distribution Piping System.
