Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)multiple fractures from riding the 12" x 16.5" step, on the side of the Pak-Rat waste collection system, which is intended to be used only as a loading step. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: In accordance with ANSI Z245.1, Section 6.1, provide employees with instruction and training in safe methods of work, and monitor the employees operation of equipment to ensure proper use and to know the limitations of the equipment.
