Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to exploding tires. VIP Discount, Tire Changing Service Bay - On or about 06/08/05 an employee was mounting a tire on a wrong sized rim when the tire was over pressurized resulting in the tire exploding, injuring the employee and damaging the tire changing machine. The employee was not properly trained in this new tire changing machine and a rim measuring tool was not available for use by the employee. One feasible means of abatement would be establishing a formal training program for tire changers and providing a rim measuring tool that was not broken.
