Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of %% 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)888 First Street, N.E., Washington D.C., Clamming operations east of excavation - A Bucyrus Erie Model B30 did not have the dead end of the wire rope secured in a manner that would have prevented it from pulling through the wedge socket. One useful and feasible means of abatement would be to place a wire clip on the dead side of the cable using the methods described in ANSI B30.5a-1984 Section 5-1.7.3(d).
