were not properly
braced which caused them to collapse.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO:
1) UTILIZE THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE TRUSS PLATE INSTITUTE WHICH
WERE CONTAINED IN SECTION B2 OF THE 2008 EDITION OF BUILDING
COMPONENT SAFETY INFORMATION BCSI-GUIDE TI GOOD PRACTICE FOR
HANDLING, INSTALLING, RESTRAINING, AND BRACING OF METAL PLATE
CONNECTED WOOD TRUSSES WHICH IS DELIVERED TO THE SITE WITH A
PACKET WITH EACH LOAD OF TRUSSES.
2) FOLLOW THE SHOP DRAWINGS PROVIDED BY THE ENGINEERING FIRM
HIRED BY THE BUILDING OWNER.
3) FOLLOW RECOMMENDATIONS SET FORTH BY THE DESIGNING
ENGINEERING FIRM.
