Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
A fire and explosion hazard from deficiencies in the design and
installation of the dust collection
system used in the grinding and burnishing areas.
One feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to comply with the
National Fire Protection
Association, NFPA 651, 1998, "Machining and Finishing of Aluminum and the
Production and
Handling of Aluminum Powders", as follows:
1) The dust collection system in the burnishing room used for the
collection of aluminum dust
was located inside the building.  NFPA 651 4-2.4
2) The dust collection system in the grinding area was used for collection
of
both aluminum and
steel dust.  NFPA 651, 4-2.5
