Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being burned or engulfed by fire while using the Vulcan # 4-5 oven. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to abate this hazard are: 1) Conduct periodic preventative maintenance of the oven to include detailed inspection of the burners and gas lines. 2) Maintain records of oven inspections, maintenance performed and of any changes made to the oven. Any changes should be approved by the manufacturer and the approval kept for the life of the oven.
