Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and/or a place of employment which were free of recognized hazards that likely to cause serious physical harm or death in that the employees were exposed to hoist collapse or falling equipment and parts. Production - Employees used hoist to lift tamp weights ranging from 300 lbs to 500 lbs. There was no frequent and periodic inspections of the hoist. DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM. One feasible abatement method is to comply with the ANSI Standards for Underhung Hoists ANSI B30.16-1993 and Hooks ANSI B30.10. 1. Provide frequent and periodic inspections of all hoist and hooks at the plant.
