Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On and prior to March 27, 1996, employees in the service department at the above site were subjected to the hazards of crushing injuries, amputations, and fatalities due to repair activities under the cabs and dumps of trucks where the ceiling height did not permit the cabs and dumps to be lifted to the full, upright, locked position. Injuries were more likely due to the lack of safety procedures or equipment. One feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard would be propping the cab or dump with a prop cable of supporting the weight of the load.t
