recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of falling loads:
a)  An employees, mechanic, was performing service work under an
automobiles in the
2nd bay on the north side of the Used Car Service Center.  The car was
suspended by
a Globe model FSN-27 lift, no pins or other securing devices were in place
to prevent
the lift from dropping in the event of a hydraulic system failure.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to provide an automatic mechanical device to hold the lift in the fully
extended position at the
rated load capacity.
