Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard. Employee(s) worked on a roof that had a pitch of 4/12 installing felt paper and were exposed to falls approximately 22 to 26 feet to the ground below. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard when working on a roof where the ground to eave height is more than 16 feet are, but not limited to, the use of safety belts/body harnesses and lifelines, catch platforms and scaffolds.
