Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazard of falling. (a) Location - Production Area: On or before 05/28/98, employees were exposed to fall hazards while accessing the top of the machine room area to activate and/or control mechanized devices. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to: 1. Provide a stepladder with the appropriate height to prevent the use of the top step. 2. Provide and enforce ladder safety training to all exposed employees.
