Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck or crushed by a falling wall: (a) Location - 57 Woodland Road, Ashland, MA: On or before 02/06/98, an employee was struck by a falling wall while working under partially lifted and inadequately supported load. Among other methods, feasible abatement methods include: 1. Develop and implement a specific policy on the acceptable methods that employees must follow when manually lifting a wall. 2. Implement a program to use mechanical means, ( i,e, wall jacks) when lifting a wall.
