Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a. #1 Kiln - On or about September 22, 1999, employees were exposed to injuries associated with falling materials when required to enter a kiln to remove ring build-up from the walls of the kiln. A feasible means to abate the hazard is to establish and implement a written procedure that would prevent employees exposure to falling materials and/or utilize specialized mechanical equipment to remove the ring build-up in the Kiln.
