Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of becoming entangled in the pipe threading machine or materials: a. Bedroom 121 - On or about 2/27/95, an employee utilized the Rigid 300 pipe threading machine, serial number 744947, which was not equipped with a safety foot switch. b. Bedroom 124 - On or about 2/8/95, an employee utilized the Rigid 400 pipe threading machine, serial number 038914, which was not equipped with a safety foot switch. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install safety foot switches, designed to shut-off the motor when an employee becomes entangled in the machine or materials, on the Rigid 300 and 400 pipe threading machines.
