Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a)Employees are exposed to the hazard of shattering C-PVC plastic pipe which is used for compressed air lines in the molding area. C-PVC plastic pipe does not have the ductility and toughness to allow its use as a carrier of compressed air and failure would be likely to result in lacerations of employees. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to replace the C-PVC plastic air lines with steel air lines. Certification, with date and method of abatement required. Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be submitted within ten (10) calendar days after the abatement date.ment
