Section 5(a)(1) of the Act: The employer did not furnish to each of its employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause serious physical harm to employees: (a)Employees were exposed to hazards where employer did not adequately instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and unsafe acts applicable to his or her work environment to control or eliminate hazards or injury in that: An employee was injured when pre-operational verification for cleanliness of the porthole of the RMF blender resulted in an exposure to a nip point hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to document written procedures for the pre-operational verification for cleanliness of the porthole on the RMF blender and thoroughly train each employee in the safe operation of the machine.
