Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck by the lance or high pressure water stream: At this worksite, employees used high pressure water blasting, operating at pressures between 1500 and 3600 psi and a fail safe valve/deadman control was not used as recommended by N.A.C.E. RPO172-72. One feasible means of abatement would include, but not be limited to, the installation of a fail safe valve/deadman control.adman
