Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
(a) East End of Building, Facade R - An employee caulking a window while
standing on the
work platform of the Terex self-supported elevating work platform was not
wearing a body
harness attached to a safety lanyard secured to an anchorage point in the
work platform basket.
The employee was exposed to a fall hazard that was approximately 12 feet.
This condition last
existed on February 11, 2000.
Among other methods, one feasible and useful method to correct this hazard
is to have
supervisory personnel ensure and enforce the wearing of a body harness
attached a safety
lanyard that is secured to the anchorage point on the Terex boom supported
elevating
work
