Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards in that: (a) Smithfield Street Bridge, Pittsburgh, PA; The outriggers on the passenger side of the Effer Snooper bridge inspection device were not fully extended while the outriggers on the drivers side were not extended at all. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to operate the Effer Snooper in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and ANSI A92.8.
