Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to injury from fragments of an exploding grinding wheel: A) Machine shop: Employees were exposed to severe injury in the event of the pedistal grinder abrasive wheel exploding while grinding on the side of the wheel. A feasible method to control this hazard is to instruct employees immediately to not grind on the side of the wheel and to explain to the employees the potential injury resulting from an exploding wheel.ing
