Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Worksite: On/about July 29, 2003, an employee was trimming branches of a tree from the bucket of the Komatsu front end loader, which was elevated to 12ft 6in from the ground. The employee was not protected from the hazard fall. ABATEMENT NOTES: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to: 1. Provide safe working platform. 2. Utilize other safe alternative method(s). 3. Follow the ANSI/SIA guidelines for the utilization of the front end loader.
