Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to working under suspended loads on overhead hoists: Department 4824 and Engine Test: Employees were working under suspended jet aircraft engine components and completely assembled engines. Work stands or other methods of preventing the load from coming down onto employees was not utilized. A feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to redesign work procedures and/or engine/component stands such that employees are not required or permitted to work under suspended
