Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hydrogen cyanide: a) Chemical/hazardous waste storage room: A 100 pound fiber board container of zinc cyanide had its cover open and was subject to steam and rain water. Feasible abatement methods include but are not limited to: a) Secure zinc cyanide container's lid and store in a cool, dry place that is not subject to steam or rain water infiltration. b) Remove zinc cyanide container from the premises.
