Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to direct contact with compressed air: (a) Main Plant Area - Employee(s) used compressed air to clean themselves off exposing them to eye and ear injuries and the introduction of air into the bloodstream (embolism), on or about December 4 and 15, 1992. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to prohibit this practice and to substitute a vaccum cleaner system for personnel cleaning themselves off.
