Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of falling from an unsecured metal ladder. (a)Storage Silo Area - A metal ladder used to gain access to the storage silo was not tied off, exposing emloyees to the hazards of falling approximately twelve (12) feet to the ground below. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that the metal ladder is securely tied off.
