Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being crushed by the paper bailer that was being fed by a conveyor system. The paper sorting process requires the employees to step on the moving metal conveyor: (a)Plant - Employees stand on moving conveyor which feds into a paper bailer to seperate scrap. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is by preventing employee(s) from riding or standinging on the moving conveyor belt.yor
