Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being hit by crane suspended loads: JOBSITE: WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LIFT TWO BEAMS BY CHRISTMAS TREEING, THE RIGGING CAME LOOSE AND THE LOAD DROPPED. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD IS: WHEN RAISING MORE THAN ONE BEAM AT THE SAME TIME, SECURE THEM TOGETHER AND RAISE THEM AS ONE LOAD. IF THIS IS NOT FEASIBLE, USE A SAFER RIGGING METHOD THAN WAS BEING USED. USE A SAFETY CLIP ON THE HOOK. USE CHOKER SLINGS FOR THE TWO BEAMS THAT ARE SUSPENDED SEPARATELY FROM THE HOOK. THE COMPANY WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 18231555, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1, ISSUED ON 9/12/90 AND WITH A FINAL ORDER DATE OF 3/6/91.
