Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard: a) Philadelphia Tramrail Overhead Underhung Crane - The crane's hoisting cable was excessively worn, on or about February 23, 1993. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard is to: 1. Correct all safety deficiencies. 2. Conduct frequent and regular inspections of the crane as referenced in ANSI (American National Standards Institute) requirement B30.11.2.1-1079 Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes.
