similar or related hazards
that may increase the potential for injury.
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to serious physical bodily harm caused by a Marklift being
driven into a square
void in the floor causing it to fall on it's side.
On or about August 12, 1996 an employee drove a Marklift scissor lift into
a square void in the
floor injuring two employees.  Means of abatement among others is to
inspect the jobsite each
day by a competent person to ensure there are no hazards present such as
floor holes, and to
ensure employees read, understand and follow the safety rules set forth in
the safety manual for
the Marklift scissor lifts.
