General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to high levels of carbon monoxide while operating a pressure washer indoors: Establishment: Grand Central Supermarket: Employees were engaged in the indoor use of a gasoline powered pressure washer while cleaning the kitchen floor thereby causing an employee to be overcome by carbon monoxide exhaust. Feasible abatement methods may include, but are not limited to the following elements: 1. Adhere to manufacturer's hazard warnings. 2. Relocate the pressure washer outdoors. 3. Obtain a combustible gas meter to monitoring carbon monoxide levels. 4. Discontinue use of gasoline powered pressure washers. CORRECTED DURING THE INSPECTION
